Privacy Policy

Overview

Lanewise Auto, operated by MetricLink Labs LLC ("we," "us"), collects information you provide when you request car insurance guidance on lanewiseauto.com (the "Site"). This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your choices. It applies to the Site and to Lanewise Auto Alerts, our text message program.

Information we collect

When you submit our guidance form, we collect your state, the topic you want help with, your question or notes, your first and last name, your email address, how you want us to reply, and your mobile phone number if you ask for a call back or check either optional text message box. We also record your agreement to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, your separate SMS consent choices (service and account notification messages, marketing messages, or both), the exact text of each box you checked, a timestamp, the page URL, your browser user agent, and your IP address. That record is how we prove consent. Form submissions are stored by our form-processing provider as the consent record.

Our hosting provider automatically logs standard request data (IP address, pages requested, browser type, and referring page) for security and reliability, and its built-in site analytics set a short-lived session cookie and record basic page-view statistics (pages visited, referring page, device and browser type, and approximate location) through a script served from our own domain. Our CDN and security provider sets a short-lived bot-protection cookie (__cf_bm) to tell real visitors from automated traffic; it expires within about 30 minutes and is not used for advertising or tracking across sites. When you submit the guidance form we also record the page you came from and any campaign parameters in the page address (such as utm_source). We do not use advertising trackers, and we do not request payment information, a Social Security number, or a driver's license number.

How we use information

We use the information you submit to provide the guidance you requested and to reply to you by email, or by phone if you ask for a call back. If you separately opt in, we use your mobile number to send Lanewise Auto Alerts text messages. There are two message types, each with its own optional box: service and account notification messages (confirmations and updates about your guidance request and replies to your questions) and marketing messages (car insurance tips, coverage review reminders, and updates about our guidance services). We send only the message type(s) you chose. You can opt out of all text messages at any time by replying STOP.

We also use information to operate, protect, and improve the Site, to respond to your requests, and to meet legal obligations.

Sharing

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with insurers, agents, or marketers. Information you give Lanewise Auto is used only by Lanewise Auto: MetricLink Labs LLC does not use it for, or make it available to, any other brand, website, or business it operates, and your phone number, email address, and consent are never used to contact you about any other brand or about insurance offers. We disclose information only to service providers acting on our behalf under confidentiality obligations, such as hosting providers, form-processing providers, email delivery vendors, and SMS delivery vendors, or as required by law.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing with subcontractors in support services, such as customer service, is permitted. All other use case categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

SMS consent and your choices

You opt in to Lanewise Auto Alerts on our guidance form at https://lanewiseauto.com/get-started/. The form has two separate optional text message boxes, both unchecked by default: Text me updates about my request (service and account notification messages) and Send me car insurance tips by text (marketing messages). Check one or both and submit your mobile number. You can opt into one without the other, and we send only the type(s) you chose. Text message consent is optional and is not a condition of any purchase or of getting guidance.

Reply STOP to opt out at any time; STOP ends both message types. Reply HELP or email contact@lanewiseauto.com for help. After you reply STOP, you will receive one final confirmation and no further program texts unless you opt in again. You may also opt out by emailing or calling us. Message frequency varies, up to 4 messages per week across both message types. Msg & data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Cookies and analytics

The Site uses only the browser storage needed to work, such as remembering a topic you chose or a campaign parameter so the guidance form can be prefilled, plus our hosting provider's basic page-view analytics described above and our CDN and security provider's short-lived bot-protection cookie (__cf_bm). We use those statistics only to understand how the Site is used, and the bot-protection cookie only to keep the Site reliable. We do not run advertising trackers or share browsing data with advertisers. If we add other analytics tools, we will update this policy first.

Security and retention

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information, and we retain it only as long as necessary to provide our service, maintain consent records, and meet legal obligations. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Retention: guidance requests and related correspondence are kept for up to 24 months after our last contact with you; SMS consent and opt-out records are kept for at least 5 years after your last message, as required to document consent; hosting logs are kept by our hosting provider for a short rolling period.

Your rights

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by emailing contact@lanewiseauto.com. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request, and certain records, such as consent and opt-out records, may be retained where required by law. You can withdraw SMS consent at any time without affecting your ability to get guidance. California residents have additional rights described on our CCPA page.

Children

Our service is intended for US residents age 18 and older and is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our service or legal requirements change. We will publish the revised policy here with an updated date. Any material change to how we use SMS consent will require a new opt-in where the law requires it.
